These terms govern your use of Cutline ("the App"), a Mac desktop application published by Cutline, operated by Jacob Greaves ("we," "us," or "our"). By installing or using the App, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.

1. What the App does

Cutline generates word-level video captions. It transcribes video using a bundled Whisper model running locally on your Mac's Neural Engine, and lets you edit and render captions into video files. The App runs entirely on your Mac. We don't operate a server that processes your videos, and we don't have access to any data you create or import.

2. License

Cutline is licensed, not sold. When you purchase the App via the Mac App Store, you receive a non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the App on devices linked to your Apple ID, subject to Apple's standard App Store License Agreement. The Cutline unlock in-app purchase grants permanent access to the App's full functionality within the v1 series (versions 1.0.x). Major version releases (v2.0+) may be offered as separate paid upgrades.

3. Free trial and purchase

The App includes a 14-day free trial of all features. After the trial expires, the in-app purchase ("Cutline Unlock," $39.99 USD) is required to continue exporting captioned video. Pricing may vary by region; the $39.99 USD price is the US App Store reference price.

4. Refunds

Apple handles all refunds for App Store purchases under their standard refund policy. To request a refund, contact Apple directly: reportaproblem.apple.com. We don't process refunds because we don't process payments — all purchases go through Apple's StoreKit.

5. Your content

Anything you create or import into the App — video files, edited transcripts, custom caption styles, uploaded fonts — belongs to you. We don't claim any rights to it, we don't access it, and we don't have a copy of it. You're responsible for ensuring you have the rights to use any content you import.

6. Acceptable use

• Don't create captions for content that is illegal in your jurisdiction.
• Don't reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code.
• Don't resell, sublicense, or redistribute the App or its components.
• Don't circumvent the trial or the in-app purchase.
• Don't use the App in any way that violates Apple's App Store Review Guidelines.

7. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Transcription accuracy depends on audio quality and is not guaranteed. We make no warranty that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, but commit to reasonable best efforts to fix significant bugs in subsequent versions.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cutline and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Cutline unlock — currently $39.99 USD.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be announced in the App's release notes. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.

11. Apple-specific terms

• These terms are between you and Cutline, not between you and Apple.
• Apple is not responsible for the App or its contents.
• In any conflict between these terms and Apple's Licensed Application EULA, the Apple EULA prevails to the extent of the conflict.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.
